María Inés Aguirre’s, Exhibition for the 2026 Venice Art Biennale continues her long-standing series ‘The Music of Colour’. The exhibition brings together her vibrant exploration of colour, music and memory; transforming the visual language of painting into something deeply sensory and emotional.

Her creative process relates to artists including Paul Klee, who felt guided by a benign ‘remote will’ and Wassily Kandinsky, who said ‘colour is a power which directly influences the soul’. Music consoles and heals, touching hearts more directly than any other art. Mia keeps in tune with Arturo Toscanini’s maxim: “I don’t remember a day without sunshine, because the sunshine was in my soul”. Her long-standing series ‘The Music of Colour’ explores the liminal space between music and visual abstraction with works painted on pianos, panels, canvas and paper. “Mia’s expressiveness works within the sentiment of nature and time. Her painting thus becomes a symbol of a deep and individual memory, but also a collective, environmental, archaic and recent remembrance that touches and moves the intimate fibres of being”. MIA’s exhibit continues at the Palazzo Mora until November 22nd as part of ‘Personal Structures - Confluences’. An official partner event of the Venice Biennale, the European Cultural Centre (ECC) invited more than 150 artists from forty countries to exhibit and “rediscover the value of sharing and (to) imagine more open, sensitive and sustainable forms of coexistence.”
